Intro to the ANW Apprenticeship Guides
What you'll learn, where to find more from me, and how to reach me
Hello, Wizard-in-Training!
So, you wish to learn more about pet nutrition…?
Well, this is the place where you can learn, ask questions, receive mentorship, and overall just have some support from a specialist who has dedicated their time and energies to the study, research, and dissemination of nutritional science of companion animals.
The guides I will provide will walk you through the very basics, to get you started on what you need to know in order to start choosing food, treats, and supplements for your dog, cat, or small pet (separate guides will be provided for the little pets!) in a manner that will optimize their health inside and out!
In the very first ANW Guide, you will learn the basic physiology of your pet's Digestive System, from end to end, and how it pertains to your pet's dietary needs. This is a vital beginning step to understanding the nutritional needs of your dog or cat, equipping you to meet those needs, and creating a foundation of knowledge to build upon.
My strategy, then, is to start with the basics and help you ease into the more difficult terminology and topics. Much of the nutrition information that is available to the average pet owner, through breeders, vets, friends, books, and the internet, can be misleading, only partially correct, or even completely backwards.
That is why, in addition to providing helpful nutrition information to my followers, I’m also going to work with you to teach you, essentially, to learn how to learn.
Knowing where to look and why, and more importantly, how, is absolutely crucial to gaining pet nutrition knowledge that is factual, and can be used responsibly to help your pets.
Now, if you’d like to see how else you can support me, reach out to me, get a consult or get more information - or even receive free support on your pet's nutrition from the wizard herself - you can also visit the ANW Website!
And you can also listen to the ANW Podcast, which can also be found on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other podcast apps.
Throughout my guides, I will go over the ins and outs of...
- Food processing
- Synthetic vitamins versus whole food complexes
- Macronutrients and micronutrients
- Minerals versus trace minerals
- Vitamin premixes and why you should avoid them
- The concerns with Carbohydrates
- Calculating your own pet's energy requirements
- How to read and calculate the guaranteed analysis to determine the number of calories coming from specific macronutrients
- Demystify labels and their meanings
- AAFCO definitions, guidelines, and protocols
And much, much more…
My slogan is “Nutrition is Magic”. While I don’t actually subscribe to any magical beliefs - in fact, all the information I provide is based on science and research - I do want to impress upon people the incredible importance of good nutrition. Not to mention, in my spare time I am an avid fantasy/sci-fi reader and gamer, so this slogan, and the title wizard, show you a bit of my nerdy personality. So when I was coming up with a slogan, to keep it short, sweet, and nerdy, I compare the essential life-giving constituents and life-changing benefits of nutrition to magic!
If you find what I have to offer is beneficial and you'd like to support me (without subscribing here) and you also desire more in-depth information, and additional complex nutrition and pet physiology guides, then consider visiting the ANW Patreon page to become a Patron, whereby you can obtain exclusive merch and additional guides. The more support I have, the easier it is for me to get the word out to more pet owners.
And, as supporters of the time, and brain power, that I put into my studies and research in order to empower you as pet owners, Patrons and Substack Subscribers will have access to additional in-depth Guides and videos, and my Discord channel for quick responses and even voice chats!
When all of my Guides have been posted, completion of my Patron and Substack Guides will reward my Wizardship Graduates with a small token of appreciation for their dedication to learning and taking the best care of their pets, upon completing a custom ANW Quiz that confirms their learning!
Now that you know about all of the ways to find and use the help I have to offer, we can wrap up this intro and move on to the good stuff!
Until next time, keep in mind; Nutrition is Magic!
